I got introduced to Self-driving cars as an intern at the self-driving car project in Hi-Tech Robotic systems Ltd. This internship program was in collaboration with CMU, Pittsburgh. During the stipulated period of 2.5 months, I worked on problems related to path planning and behavior state machines.
Specifically, I modified the behavior state machine to include more behaviors and traffic rules. Next, I added an additional feature of curb obstacle avoidance and finally, I added an extra feature of lane change during path-replan.
Most importantly, I got exposure to the planning problem and got to study Autoware modules, algorithms, and architecture. This experience sparked my interest in self-driving cars.
